FIFA will vote in May 2024 on the awarding of the 2027 World Cup.
Minister Conny Helder: “It would be fantastic if we could organize the World Cup in 2027 with Belgium and Germany. It’s a great way to put sport and especially women’s football on the map even more in the Netherlands. From the stands, of course, I will wholeheartedly cheer on our Orange Lionesses during the game against the United States. I wish them a lot of success in this way in the first game against Portugal.
Socially safe sport
Part of the working visit consists of an exchange of knowledge with the Sports Integrity Australia (SIA) in Canberra (Australia) on integrity and security in sport. This successful example is followed in the development of an independent integrity center for safe sport in the Netherlands. Where athletes can go to report and track reports in the area of transgressive behavior, doping and match-fixing.
