Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg will make short-term donations of M113 armored infantry vehicles to Ukraine. These are refurbished vehicles that are purchased from the industry. The defense ministers of the 3 countries are reporting on this today in a joint press release.
The M113 is a vehicle used by many international partners. It is mainly used to move infantry from one point to another on the battlefield. They are better protected by the solid armor of the M113.
The M113s will be equipped with a remote-controlled weapon system. It is also possible to mount machine guns on vehicles. Ukraine will also receive the necessary spare parts. The intention is that the whole package will be delivered in the coming months.
“With this donation, we show that we continue to support Ukraine against Russian aggression,” Ministers Ludivine Dedonder (Belgium), Kajsa Ollongren (Netherlands) and Francois Bausch (Luxembourg) said in the statement. “By joining forces, we are responding to the request of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to continue deploying armored vehicles.”
